Rory Geoghegan, Head of Criminal Justice, Centre for Social Justice

Rory Geoghegan is Head of Criminal Justice at the Centre for Social Justice. Rory has previously worked in strategy at PwC and started working on criminal justice while at the Institute for Government. His criminal justice policy experience is blended with frontline practice, spending five years as a police officer working across response, neighbourhoods and gangs in the Metropolitan Police.

Paddy Tipping, Police and Crime Commissioner for Nottinghamshire

Former MP Paddy Tipping, Nottinghamshire’s first Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), was re-elected with an overwhelming majority in May 2016. Chair of the Police Reform and Transformation Board and the Business Enablers sub-committee, he is also the Labour lead for finance matters and sits on the Board of the Police ICT company. He was asked to Chair the Governance Sub-Committee of the Specialist Capabilities Programme which is currently examining how best the Police can respond to new challenges in the changing policing landscape.

Richard Lim, Chief Executive Officer of Retail Economics

Richard is Chief Executive Officer of Retail Economics, an independent economics research consultancy focused on the consumer and retail industry. He also sits on the Strategic Advisory Board at the University of East Anglia’s School of Economics, ranked in the top 10 departments in Economics in the UK. Previously, Richard held the position of Chief Economist at the British Retail Consortium before heading up the Retail Insight and Analytics team. Prior to that, he worked in mergers and acquisitions for Citi.

Tom Callow, Director of Communication and Strategy, Chargemaster

Tom has worked in the automotive sector for the past nine years in a number of communications roles. Tom’s knowledge of electric vehicles extends to products and technologies, as well as key stakeholders and issues, and he formerly chaired the SMMT’s Electric Vehicle group. Tom’s responsibilities at Chargemaster include raising the profile of the business among its stakeholders, including the media, car manufacturers, government, energy providers and leasing companies, as well as monitoring the evolving dynamics of the market, to help inform the company’s strategy.

John Diviney, Managing Director UK, Applegreen

John Diviney, Managing Director UK joined Applegreen in 2013 as Head of Corporate Finance and Treasury. Following the IPO in June 2015 he was appointed Director of Food Systems and Trading. In 2016 he moved to the UK to lead the ongoing expansion of the UK operations.

Andy Davis, Global Strategic Retail Alliance Manager, Shell

Andy has been in retailing for over 30 years, starting in Operations with Sainsburys before he got into Buying at Circle K, and eventually became Buying Director at Alldays in the two years prior to it being sold to CWS. He then joined BP as Trading Director in 2003, and in this role he created and developed the Alliance with Marks & Spencer. The success of this for BP led to Andy becoming Head of Buying for Europe, and this role, as well as focusing on supporting the country teams, was responsible for developing other Alliances that enhanced the customer offer .

Matt Rich, Digital Innovation Director, BP

Matt joined BP in 2011 and has been in the role of Digital Innovation Director in June 2014.  Matt works within the Global Marketing Team, driving their global markets to embrace the opportunity that digital  brings. Focusing on common consumer pain points, BP has recently launched BPme - a mobile app facilitating payment and loyalty. 

New Thinking on Shop Theft

This week the Centre for Social Justice has published a report called Desperate for a Fix, focusing on tackling retail crime and calling for fresh thinking at a national and local level to find policies that can address the increases in theft and other crime that retailers have experienced recently.  ACS sponsored this report, but it's independent work by a respected policy thinker (and former police officer) called Rory Geoghegan who specialises in this area.  Because it's his report, it doesn't approach the issue from a retailers' perspective, but I think it gets to the meat of the issues

Professor Sabine Benoit, University of Surrey

In February 2016 Professor Sabine Benoit (nee Moeller) joined the University of Surrey as a Professor of Marketing. She is a member of the Department of Retail and Marketing at Surrey Business School.
