DCMS: Introducing further advertising restrictions on TV and online for products high in fat, salt or sugar: consultation on secondary legislation

The government is seeking feedback on the draft regulations on the further HFSS advertising TV/online restrictions to ensure they are fit for purpose. In other words, to ensure the draft regulations are clear, unambiguous and can be implemented effectively once enacted

The UK wide policy will:

  • Introduce a 9pm TV watershed for HFSS products and a restriction of paid-for HFSS advertising online
  • All on-demand programme services (ODPS) under the jurisdiction of the UK will be included in the TV watershed for HFSS advertising

Following a delay in the implementation of the restrictions, these will now come in effect in October 2025
