Home Delivery Guidance for Local Shops

More convenience retailers are looking at home delivery as an option to reach local customers that are self-isolating or otherwise unable to travel to their local shop. This new guidance details what retailers should consider when starting a home delivery service.

The guidance covers the following areas:

  • How to take an order
  • How to take payment
  • How to operate a collection service
  • How to manage data security
  • Plastic bag charging for home deliveries
  • Age restricted products
  • How to display pricing
  • Issues around premium pricing
  • Delivery charges

The guidance has been designed in consultation with multiple Government departments, Surrey/Bucks Trading Standards and Woking Borough Council, who work with ACS on its existing Assured Advice scheme.

Home News Delivery Guidance

ACS has developed guidance to inform convenience retailers about best practice on home news delivery (HND) to inform procedures and provide reassurance during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The World Health Organization is advising that the risk of contracting COVID-19 from receiving letters and parcels is low. COVID-19 does not survive long on objects, such as letters or parcels, and this will be the same for newspapers and magazines.

The guidance includes information on:

  • Hygiene
  • Managing Deliveries
  • Employing U16 Workers
