ACS Assured Advice in Wales Launches with Display Ban Guide

ACS’ industry leading Assured Advice scheme is now available for retailers in both England and Wales, with a new version of the tobacco display ban guide for retailers in Wales being published today.

ACS Assured Advice offers retailers the assurance that their in-store practices cannot be challenged by local enforcement officers. ACS offers Assured Advice on a variety of topics, including health and safety, preventing underage sales, fire safety and more. Assured Advice has been developed as part of a primary authority scheme with Surrey County Council for England, but guides will now also be assured in Wales by Bridgend County Borough Council.

The ACS tobacco display ban guide has been adopted by the Department of Health and the Trading Standards Institute as a leading example of compliance in the sector.

ACS Chief Executive James Lowman said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our industry leading Assured Advice scheme for retailers in both England and Wales. Our guides allow independent stores and small multiples to have the same benefits and protections previously only available to the biggest national chains.”

Councillor Charles Smith, Chair of the Joint Committee for Shared Regulatory Services welcomed the role of Bridgend County Borough Council in the development of assured advice for ACS members in Wales. He said ‘We are committed to supporting reputable businesses in complying with the law and this in turn brings benefits to their customers who can have confidence in the service they receive. The Authority is delighted to be working closely with the ACS and its members in Wales to achieve these common goals’.

The Tobacco Display Ban advice for Wales is available here in both English and Welsh language formats. More information about signing up to the Assured Advice scheme is available here.
