Georgie Barnard, National Business Crime Centre

Georgie is a Detective Chief Inspector at the Metropolitan Police with responsibility for the new National Business Crime Centre (NBCC).

The NBCC has been established this year as a centre of excellence to coordinate national activity police support for business.

The NBCC intends to standardise the interactions between police and business, share best practice and strengthen partnerships.

High Streets Minister Jake Berry MP

Jake Berry MP is MP for Rossendale and Darwen and Minister for High Streets within the Department for Communities and Local Government.

His ministerial responsibilities include; high streets, local growth policy, mayors and devolution, Local Enterprise Partnerships and community rights.

Cathy Newman (Chair)

Cathy will be the chairperson for the 2017 Heart of the Community Conference. 

Cathy is a studio presenter for a mainstream news network, previously working as a journalist for the Financial Times and the Independent.

She has appeared as a guest panellist on Have I Got News For You and blogs for the Daily Telegraph and Economia magazine.

Joe is a partner of The Village Shop & Post Office in Hook Norton, Oxfordshire together with his parents they have run their store for the last 27 years. The store is 1,250 sq ft in the centre of the village, trading with Nisa as an independent fascia store, also incorporating a florist.

I’m really buzzing after a great hustings event today run by ACS with our friends at the Federation of Small Businesses.  After a general election campaign that has often seen politicians lurching from loudhailer sloganeering to robotic repetition of focus group-tested messages, with some pretty poor TV debates thrown in, today’s event saw my faith restored in good quality, substantive debate on the issues that matter to small shops, small businesses, and the communities we all serve.

Julian Taylor-Green worked for 22 years with Nurdin and Peacock /Booker Cash & Carry. Latterly working in the Midlands and North West as a General Manager. Julian recolated to the South of England and bought a Post Office and C Store in Lindford.18 months into his new life style, he saw an opportunity to relocate his business with a competitor in the Village. He relocated and rebranded the site to a Londis format store. Existing site was demolished and developed into Flats.
