ACS Unveils New Communications Team

ACS (the Association of Convenience Stores), the trade association representing over 33,500 local shops, has announced two new appointments as part of a restructure of its public affairs and communications team

Edward Woodall has been appointed as Head of Policy and Public Affairs and will lead ACS work across a portfolio of high profile issues. Ed has worked for ACS for five years, successfully leading ACS interventions in the high streets debate, Sunday Trading and crime policy. Ed has also overseen the significant growth in ACS public affairs profile.

Chris Noice has been appointed Head of Communications and Research. He will run ACS’ busy press office, manage all internal communications and take forward ACS’ ambitious research programme delivering new important insights into the impact of local shops on the local economy and society. Chris has also worked for ACS for five years and played a critical role in transforming ACS’ media profile and internal communications in that time.

ACS Chief Executive, James Lowman said: “I am delighted to appoint Ed and Chris to run ACS’ public affairs and communications department. It is great for ACS to be able to promote such talented and experienced people from within the existing team. Both have been a vital part of ACS’ success in recent years and I am sure we will go from strength to strength under their leadership”.

The restructure takes effect from 1st October 2014, and follows the departure of Public Affairs Director, Shane Brennan. Shane will be taking up the position of Director of External Affairs at the Country Land and Business Association on the 10th November.

James Lowman said: “Shane has made a huge contribution to ACS in his twelve years with us.  He is highly regarded for his intellect and commitment, both within ACS and in Government, the media and among the wide range of stakeholders with whom he has engaged.  We wish him well with this exciting career move.
