Co-op and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) have teamed up with Special Olympics Great Britain (GB) to launch Meals That Matter – a nationwide campaign supporting inclusion through sport.
Running in Co-op stores from 9 July to 5 August, the campaign will raise funds for Special Olympics GB’s life-changing sports programmes for people with intellectual disabilities. Customers can take part by purchasing a £6 meal deal (two Co-op pizzas and 4x330ml Coca-Cola Zero Sugar or Diet Coke), with 25p from each sale donated to the charity.
The campaign features five Special Olympics GB athlete ambassadors – Alex Rae, Bleddyn Gibbs, Stephanie Gott, Katie Day and Lloyd Martin – whose stories highlight the power of inclusion in sport and everyday life.
Alex Rae, a double silver medallist in table tennis and Co-op colleague in Aberdeen, said: “I’m proud to be part of this campaign because it helps raise awareness of what people with intellectual disabilities can achieve when they’re given the right support and opportunities.”
