Scotland MUP Changes to Come into Effect This Month

From 30th of September, all retail businesses in Scotland will be required to sell alcohol at a minimum of 65p per unit, following the Scottish Government’s decision to increase its Minimum Unit Pricing (MUP) which is currently set at 50p per unit.

SGF and the Scottish Government have produced a range of resources to help retailers navigate through the transition in the policy along with customer facing communication materials, which are available to access below:

SGF & Scottish Government MUP Guide – A joint produced guide that covers compliance and how to prepare for when the changes come in effect.

SGF MUP Calculator – Online MUP calculator to help retailers ensure they sell alcohol products at or above MUP.

Customer Facing Communication Materials – Posters and shelf edge labels to help communicate the price change to customers.

Retailers are reminded that there is no sell through period for when these changes take place, meaning if you have a license to sell alcohol it must be done at 65p per unit or higher from 30th September.
