Retailers & AMs Celebrate Welsh C-Stores at Annual Reception

At the Cross Party Group on Small Shops Annual Reception, ACS addressed a packed house of AMs and retailers from across England and Wales to talk about the important contribution that Welsh retailers make to the UK convenience sector.

Speaking at the event hosted by Suzy Davies AM, ACS Chief Executive James Lowman said: "Convenience stores in Wales are a vitally important part of the Welsh economy, contributing over 22,000 jobs in nearly 3,000 shops across the country. We are delighted to be able to provide Local Shop Report information specifically for Wales, and thank the Cross Party Group for their support of our sector."

At the event, Mr Lowman spoke of some the key issues that ACS will be working on in Wales in the coming months, including using the Welsh model of carrier bag charging as an example for England where the proposed scheme is more complicated and burdensome for retailers.
