Linda Williams and Ramesh Shingadia to go Head to Head in Battle of the Best

Award winning independent retailers, Linda Williams and Ramesh Shingadia, are set to go head to head at ACS Summit 15 in the first ever Battle of the Best.

The feature, debuting at this year’s Summit conference, sees the retailers travelling around the country in search of the best innovations and in-store practices to take back to Birmingham’s NEC – the site of Summit 15. On the day, those in attendance will have the opportunity vote for their favourite, with the winner taking home the coveted title of Battle of the Best champion.

This year’s Battle of the Best will feature the following retailers:

  • Michael O Loughlin (Applegreen)
  • Mehmet Guzel (Simply Fresh)
  • Mike Barker (Budgens)
  • Paul Stone (Spar)
  • David Sands (David’s Kitchen)
  • Joanna Casonato (Giacopazzi)

ACS chief executive James Lowman said: “Linda and Ramesh are both hugely successful retailers in their own right, but this is a new challenge for them – travelling around the country to discover the best new ideas in the sector and bringing them back to Summit where what they present will be judged by an audience of some of the most influential people in convenience.”

Summit brings together independent retailers, symbol groups, multiple chains, suppliers and industry experts to find out what the best stores are doing to succeed, while also looking ahead to the future of the convenience sector. Speakers at this year’s Summit include Kris Engskov (Starbucks), Simon Roberts (Boots), Steve Murrells (Co-Operative), Catherine Nunn (BP) and many more.

Further information about Summit can be found on the ACS website (www.acs.org.uk).
