Entries Now Open for the 2023 Raj Aggarwal Trophy!

Entries are now open for this year’s Raj Aggarwal Trophy, a trophy awarded to convenience retailers who have been exceptional in community retailing and helping their fellow retailers.

The trophy was first launched in 2021 to mark the legacy of independent retailer Raj Aggarwal.

Entries are open to any convenience store operator, independent retailers and managers of multiple-owned outlets. To enter, you will be interviewed by ACS head of retailer engagement Sarah C Johnson who will ask you about your impact on the local community, challenges and obstacles that you have faced and how you support your fellow retailers.

The judges are: Sunita Aggarwal, Owner Spar Winston and Raj’s wife; Jonathan James – Managing Director – James Convenience Retail and Avtar Sidhu – Owner – Budgens Kenilworth, who will select the finalists before a final winner is decided at our Heart of the Community conference at One Birdcage Walk on 17th October.

ACS chief executive James Lowman said: “The trophy was created in the memory of Raj Aggarwal, who was an outstanding figure in his community and who was always looking to support his fellow retailers.

“We know that convenience retailers are dedicated to making a positive difference in the communities that they serve and this trophy is the perfect way for us to come together and celebrate some of the shining examples in our sector.”

To enter, please email [email protected] who will provide you with more information – the deadline for entries is 21st July.

You can find more information about the trophy, including a video from last year’s winner Dean Holborn on our Member Portal here.
