ACS has launched its 2025 Colleagues Survey, which aims to explore the views of people working in the UK convenience sector, from Customer Assistants to Regional Managers.
The Colleague Survey asks frontline convenience colleagues to share their experiences working within the sector, covering travelling to work, employment contracts, flexible work opportunities, use of benefits, and more. The data collected goes towards our employment policy campaign work, as well as forming the ‘Our Colleague’ pages in the Local Shop Report.
The survey will take around 15 minutes to complete, and all answers are strictly anonymous. Upon completing the survey, participants will be entered into a prize draw with the chance to win one of 10 £100 One4All shopping vouchers.
ACS chief executive James Lowman said: “The ACS colleague survey is a vital part of our research. It helps us campaign on important issues affecting the sector and inform Government officials about what the sector needs in the future. It also helps us to inform employers about the ways in which they can support their colleagues.”
We encourage all retailers to share this link with store-based employees: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ACSColleague2025
There are several things we can do to support you in sharing this survey:
- We can set up a one-to-one call to talk through the survey and outputs
- All questions are optional, but if there are any questions you would not like to share we can build a separate survey with particular questions removed
- We can provide company-specific breakdowns of the responses, which give you great insight into your colleagues’ experiences (we are only able to provide these breakdowns if the sample size is large enough)
- We can aggregate any other employment data you collect and are happy to share, to build a better picture of working in the convenience sector (e.g. payroll data, pension uptake, benefits offered)

The survey closes on 28th February. For questions about the survey or wider ACS research, please email [email protected]
