Co-op
Matt Hood is Group Managing Director at the Co-op, responsible for a broad portfolio of the Group’s functions. He leads the newly formed Group Commercial and Logistics division, created to build one of the UK’s largest grocery buying groups and to accelerate the growth of Co-op’s external-facing GNFR procurement business. His remit also includes oversight of the UK’s largest small store logistics and supply chain network.
Under Matt’s leadership, the division integrates buying scale and commercial capability across all channels—including Co-op stores, franchise partners, independent societies, wholesale customers, and new external collaborators—to deliver greater efficiency, improved value, and long-term sustainable growth.
In addition to his Group responsibilities, Matt holds full accountability for the P&L of Co-op’s £8bn Food Retail business. He leads the retail propositions and customer teams, shaping the strategy, experience, and performance of one of the UK’s largest convenience grocery operations.
