Environment Minister Confirmed for ACS Welsh Local Shop Report Launch

The Minister for Environment, Energy and Rural Affairs Lesley Griffiths MS is confirmed to speak at the launch of ACS’ 2021 Welsh Local Shop Report.

Taking place online on 8th December, the launch event will provide a comprehensive overview of the convenience sector in Wales and explore the vital contribution that local shops make to the Welsh economy and the communities that they serve.

ACS research assistant Phoebe Clifford will present the findings of the 2021 Welsh Local Shop Report and explore how Welsh policymakers can support local shops in Wales.

Minister for Environment Lesley Griffiths MS will reflect on the findings of the report and discuss how retailers have responded to the Covid-19 crisis with ACS chief executive James Lowman.

ACS chief executive James Lowman said: “Local shops make a positive contribution to communities throughout Wales, providing flexible employment, essential services and a source of social interaction for those who may be isolated or vulnerable. We are delighted that the Minister will be addressing the launch event, addressing the fantastic work that convenience stores in Wales have done to feed their communities during the pandemic and outlining how the Welsh Government plans to support retailers to grow their businesses.”
