Book Your Place at ACS’ Welsh Local Shop Report Launch!

Book your place at the launch of ACS’ 2021 Welsh Local Shop Report, taking place online on 8th December from 10am until 11am.

The launch event will provide a comprehensive overview of the convenience sector in Wales and explore the vital contribution that local shops make to the Welsh economy and the communities that they serve.

ACS research assistant Phoebe Clifford will present the findings of the 2021 Welsh Local Shop Report and explore how Welsh policymakers can support local shops in Wales.

This will be followed by a panel session of leading Welsh convenience retailers responding to the report findings and trading during the pandemic, including:

  • Matt Teague, Managing Director, Blakemore Retail
  • Matthew Hunt, Director , Filco Supermarkets Director
  • Harry Delves, Commercial Director, Tuffins Supermarkets

Minister for Environment Lesley Griffiths MS will reflect on the findings of the report and discuss how retailers have responded to the Covid-19 crisis with ACS chief executive James Lowman.

ACS chief executive James Lowman said: “Local shops make a positive contribution to communities throughout Wales, providing flexible employment, essential services and a source of social interaction for those who may be isolated or vulnerable. We are delighted that the Minister will be addressing the launch event, addressing the fantastic work that convenience stores in Wales have done to feed their communities during the pandemic and outlining how the Welsh Government plans to support retailers to grow their businesses.”
