ACS Launches ‘Election Centre’ in the Countdown to the General Election

As the UK counts down to the General Election on 7th May, ACS have launched a new section of its website, the Election Centre, to keep retailers informed of the announcements that matter to small businesses.

The Election Centre, located under the ‘Lobbying’ tab on www.acs.org.uk’s menu bar, will showcase the store visits that retailers have organised across the UK, as well as providing information about how the major parties line up on key issues, political announcements and feedback from retailers on how they’re planning to vote.

In the run up to the election, ACS is encouraging all members to get in touch with their store’s local MP or Prospective Parliamentary Candidate (PPC) and invite them to visit their store. The visit will help retailers begin to build a lasting relationship with their store’s MP and provide a platform to show them just how important small businesses are to the local community.

ACS Chief Executive James Lowman said: “It is now more important than ever for convenience retailers to engage with their store’s local MP to show them how crucial local shops are within their constituency. We urge all independent retailers to get in touch with their MP and arrange a visit to show them the positive work they are doing in store”.
