ACS: Get Involved in the Great British Spring Clean 2019

Today (22nd March) marks the start of the Great British Spring Clean, which runs for a month until 23rd April. ACS (the Association of Convenience Stores) is encouraging retailers to get involved with this year’s campaign.

Last year, over 370,000 people collected 650,000 bags of rubbish across Great Britain and this year the aim is to get over half a million people involved in the campaign.

ACS chief executive James Lowman said: “We’re encouraging convenience retailers to get involved with this year’s Great British Spring Clean. Ensuring that our high streets and local neighbourhoods are free of litter encourages community activity and strengthens town centres.”

Research from the 2018 Local Shop Report found that 81% of independent retailers were involved in some form of community activity in the past year.

Retailers who would like to get involved with the campaign can download a free Coca Cola European Partners ‘Guide to Hosting a Community Clean-Up’ by visiting the sustainability section of their website Those who share their experiences once completed will be in with the chance of winning £1,000 for a local charity or cause of their choice.
