ACS Encourages Retailers to Prepare for ShopKind Week

ACS (the Association of Convenience Stores) is encouraging retailers to get involved with ShopKind Week, beginning on 30th June this year.

ShopKind is a campaign within the retail sector that aims to raise awareness about violence towards shopworkers, while also acknowledging the essential role of shopworkers and reminding customers to #ShopKind when visiting stores.

Figures from the 2025 ACS Crime Report found that there were over 59,000 estimated incidents of violence towards shopworkers, and 1.2 million incidents of verbal abuse.

Here’s how you can help support ShopKind this year:

  • Sharing #ShopKind assets across your social platforms
  • Displaying assets such as downloadable posters across your business
  • Getting staff involved with the campaign
  • Nominate someone in your organisation to be a ShopKind Champion

You can download free promotional materials on the official NBCC (National Business Crime Centre) website. There is a wide variety of assets that should help you prepare for ShopKind Week, such as poster print-outs or social media assets that you can share online to promote the campaign. You can also develop your own assets, but these must follow the brand guidelines.

ACS chief executive James Lowman said: "Shopworkers and their colleagues have the right to feel safe and secure when they are helping and serving their communities, and should never be subject to abuse. This campaign acts as a reminder to all customers that it is important to treat them with kindness and respect.

"We are glad to see that ShopKind Week continues to receive support, and we need your help to ensure that the messages behind the campaign continue to be heard."

ACS are currently looking for ShopKind champions, who will be responsible for sharing the campaign’s message through all communications and will receive a digital ShopKind Champion Pack, helping them reach new heights in supporting the campaign.

If you are interested in becoming a ShopKind champion, or would like more information about ShopKind Week, please email [email protected].
