Last Chance to Book for ACS Responsible Retailing Forum

Time is running out to book your place at the Responsible Retailing Forum, taking place this Thursday, 19th May at the King Power Stadium in Leicester.

The forum will guarantee you are up-to-date with all of the fast-changing retail legislation and enable you to update your store’s policies and procedures. Speakers confirmed for the Responsible Retailing Forum include:

  • Jane Ellison (Minister for Public Health) will discuss the upcoming changes to tobacco legislation and what it means for retailers (via video message).
  • Paul Hagon (Group Strategy Director, Palmer and Harvey) sharing the experience of retailers in Australia, who have been dealing with the introduction of standardised tobacco packaging in their stores.
  • Jamie McLellan (Senior Policy Advisor – Drugs and Alcohol Unit, Home Office) presenting the final version of retailer guidance to help them comply with new regulations on psychoactive substances, due to come into force on May 26th.
  • Andy Johnson (Head of Alcohol, Home Office) discussing the latest developments in the Modern Crime Prevention Strategy and Policing and Crime Bill.
  • Stephen Kent (HMRC) discussing what retailers must do to ensure that they are compliant with the Alcohol Wholesaler Registration Scheme.
  • Edward Woodall (Head of Public Affairs and Policy, Association of Convenience Stores) looking at ways that retailers can tackle proxy purchasing and the misuse of alcohol.
  • Julie Byers (Public Affairs Executive, Association of Convenience Stores) providing an overview of policy developments in alcohol, tobacco and other responsibility areas.

The forum will also feature a panel discussion with retailers, and an opportunity to provide your feedback on ACS’ submission to the Government’s consultation on plans to introduce a licensing system for tobacco, as well as the launch of new guidance for retailers on upcoming changes to tobacco regulations being brought forward at EU level which includes tips on how to deal with the introduction of standardised packaging for tobacco products in store.
