Smart Energy for Business

Smart Energy for Business

Smart Energy GB has opened a consultation that looks at informing their approach to engaging with microbusinesses in Great Britain to ensure as many of them as possible can benefit from the transformation in the smart meter roll out in the way the organisation buys and uses gas and electricity.

Smart meters provide consumers with accurate bills, near real time information on energy usage in pounds and pence, and greater control over their gas and electricity. The smart meter roll-out is an essential technology upgrade, unprecedented in its scale, to improve Great Britain’s energy infrastructure. Between now and 2020, every home and small business across England, Scotland and Wales will be offered a smart meter by their energy supplier at no extra cost. About 1.4 million smart meters have already been installed.

In response, ACS highlights that the costs of energy are a critical factor in the viability of a convenience store businesses and it is therefore crucial that convenience retailers receive accurate bills that smart meters provide.
