Cabinet Office: Cutting Red Tape on Local Authorities

The Cabinet Office, the Department for Communities and Local Government and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills are carrying out a joint Cutting Red Tape review of Local Authority regulation. 

They looked to identify and remove unnecessary regulatory burdens that are currently placed on business by local authorities.

ACS responded to the consultation, which focused on the importance of consistent enforcement activity across local authority areas. We highlighted issues with the alcohol licensing system in terms of the application process, licence conditions and advertising alcohol licences.
