EU Commission: Tobacco Track and Trace

The EU Commission have launched a consultation on the establishment and operation of a traceability system for tobacco products (also known as ‘track and trace’), which will require all unit packets of tobacco products to be marked with a unique identifier and their movements tracked throughout the European Union from May 2019. ‘Track and Trace’ was one of the measures implemented by the EU Revised Tobacco Products Directive.
