Mission Statement

ANR's Mission Statement is to improve the management of the news category by ANR members to bring greater commercial success to every member store.

Particular ANR focus on:

  • Information provision
  • Influencing decision makers
  • Providing representation
  • Identify common interest and possible member benefits
  • Increase membership

Information provision:

  • Keeping members informed on industry and political issues through regular meetings and updates;
  • Develop and explore sources of information that will inform and benefit members;
  • Provide concise analysis of events and actions within the industry.

Influencing decision makers:

  • Keeping ANR profile high via regular contact with trade press, articles and press releases informing of ANR position;
  • Keeping regular contact with, and maintaining a watching brief over, Government departments DBERR, OFT etc;
  • Developing contact with trading partners;
  • Shaping a joint retail voice by working closely with Other retailers:
  • Regular dialogue with NFRN, BRC and other retail bodies;
  • Support industry initiatives where beneficial to ANR.

Providing representation:

  • At industry meetings including JIG and sub-group meetings;
  • With up-channel associations PPA, NPA, ANMW, NS etc;
  • Through ongoing contact with policy makers MP’s, OFT, DBERR and Civil Servants.
