Event Report: Heart of the Community 2011
At the fourth annual Heart of the Community conference, over 130 retailers gathered at Methodist Central Hall to debate the changes to planning legislation coming from the Localism Act and the forthcoming National Planning Policy Framework, and the effect that this will have on them and their stores. The event featured presentations and discussion from senior MPs in both Government and Opposition as well as from industry experts from the Town and Country Planning Association, the Centre for Cities and Campaign to Protect Rural England.
Event Report: Crime Prevention Forum 2011
At the October Crime Prevention Forum, ACS Chief Executive James Lowman has encouraged members to explain the impact of crime on themselves, their staff and their businesses. Crime Minister Lord Henley attended the forum and expressed his support for ACS' efforts to tackle retail crime. He said: “This government is clear that retail crime is certainly not victimless – shops form the lifeblood of our communities and are vital to our economy and social fabric."
