ACS Study Tour to USA
3rd – 7th October 2008
ACS’ four night tour of Chicago, in association with Insight Research, includes store visits to leading US retail outlets including 7 Eleven, Wholefoods, Trader Joe’s and BP. Delegates will be able to attend the NACS International Forum, as well as visit the NACS show. In addition all ACS delegates will benefit from three US retailers as guest speakers giving a true insight into the US market. In addition we are also offering a pre tour to Los Angeles, where delegates can see stores such as Tesco’s Fresh & Easy, Famima Super Convenience and even “Kwik-E-Mart”, as well as catch up with Hidenari Sato, Executive Vice President of Famima.
Itinerary
Friday 3rd - Flying into Chicago delegates will attend the International NACS Welcome Reception and Buffet at Hilton Hotel, Chicago, where we will be staying for the duration in Chicago. In the evening we will meet up with the larger international group at Buddy Guy’s Jazz Bar.
Saturday 4th - NACS International Forum, followed by tour of Chicago to see stores. Stores on the tour include 7 Eleven, Fox and Obel, Wholefoods, Trader Joe’s, Portillo’s and BP. The day ends with a networking dinner at Morton’s legendary Steak House with guest speaker Don Longo, Editor-in-Chief, Convenience Store News, Nielsen Business Media..
Sunday 5th - Our breakfast speaker will be Peter O’Toole who will be discussing Global Store Format
Development. The rest of the morning will be spent either supporting our winners at the Convenience
Industry Global Achievement Awards or at the Going Green workshop. At midday NACS EXPO begins.
In the evening there is an International Reception followed by an optional American Football sports-bar
night.
Monday 6th - Launch of the “Looking Good in Green”, NACS International “Green Store Toolkit” profiling
the best green retail carbon and cost saving initiatives from around the world. Followed by an industry
leader’s roundtable and CEO presentations.
Chicago store tour day visiting the remaining stores on the list concluding with a feedback session at
the Hilton Hotel.
Tuesday 7th - Breakfast briefing and presentation from John MacDougall, President and CEO at Nice N
Easy Grocery Shoppes, Inc. followed by NACS Show closing general session. A visit to the Water
Tower Place Mall from shopping and the opportunity to visit last day of NACS Expo. Fly home.
Wednesday 8th - Additional overnight option for delegates wishing to attend second day of NACS Expo.

Tuesday 30th - Fly into LAX, Los Angeles. Delegates arrive at Renaissance Hollywood Hotel, Hollywood. Welcome drinks at hotel. Hollywood Walk of fame and Chinese theatre.

Wednesday 1st - Store Tour Briefing at hotel. Los Angeles store tour day visiting:
Tesco Fresh & Easy, BP Helios House, Famima Super Convenience, 7 Eleven “Kwik-E-Mart” Simpsons Store and La Brea Bakery Store.Rodeo Drive Shopping.
Evening meal with guest speaker Hidenari Sato, Famima USA Executive Vice President.
Thursday 2nd - Second LA store tour day visiting:
Famima, Ralph's, Wholefoods, Bristol Farms, Trader Joes, Chevron Extra Mile and Tesco Fresh & Easy.

Friday 3rd - Breakfast de-brief. Fly to Chicago for tour as per programme.
