Shadow Minister Supports Community Retailers

Edward Garnier MP, Conservative Shadow Minister for Justice, has paid a visit to Londis retailers Raj and Senita Aggarwal in their store in Wigston, Leicestershire to discuss the issues that affect convenience retailers today and their role as community retailers.
The Aggarwal family have traded in the street for the past 20 years, in which time they have made a positive contribution to the improvement of the area in addition to winning numerous awards for their efforts both in retailing and within their community. Most recently the Aggarwal's won awards at the prestigious national Asian Trader Awards.
Mrs Aggarwal and Edward Garnier MP spoke about current political developments including crime, the tobacco display ban and underage sales, and the importance of being at the heart of their community.
Edward Garnier MP said: “It was a pleasure to meet local retailers that take pride and pleasure in their role at the heart of the community. Shops such as this are vital to vulnerable sections of society such as the elderly. I am very pleased that their efforts to raise money for local schools and charities has been recognised by the numerous awards that they have won. I very much look forward to working with them in the future.”
Senita Aggarwal said: “We get involved in the local community because we want to not because we have to. We look forward to continuing to work with the local police, school and our MP to carry on developing the area, investing in the local youth of today that will become our customers tomorrow.”
