Conservative PPC Mike Penning Attends Kishor Patel Store Launch

19 April 2010
Independent retailer Kishor Patel has launched a new Nisa Local in Hemel Hempstead, with Conservative PPC Mike Penning in attendance to formally open the store.
ACS Chief Executive James Lowman also attended the launch and made a short speech praising Kishor Patel’s business and the role he plays in the communities where he operates.
Mr Lowman said: “Kishor puts considerable time into ACS and a host of other organisations. He understands the value of retailers working together to represent the sector to Government, to become more efficient, and to invest in training and staff development. Yet this work should not distract our attention from the fact that Kishor is first and foremost a terrific retailer – one of the very best in our sector. Everything Kishor does in his business is about the customer, and local people in this part of Hemel Hempstead will love having a store of this quality in their community.”
James Lowman added: “Mike Penning has been a fine Shadow Minister for public health. He has listened to our arguments against the tobacco display ban, and has understood that the evidence for a ban is weak or non-existent, and that the costs for retailers would be significant. We hope that if he become a Government minister he will continue to fight for the interests of local shops against disproportionate measures like this.”
