Retailers are invited to attend the upcoming Responsible Retailing forum on 24th November. Speakers at the event will include John Drummond, SGF Chairman, David Poley, Chief Executive of the Portman group and Hannah Tait from the Department of Health, among others.

The agenda for the event is below...

9:45 Shane Brennan will update the forum on developments in alcohol policy including
Conservative plans for alcohol licensing reform, the debate on price and promotions and
the role out of social responsibility initiatives.
10:05 John Drummond, Chief Executive, Scottish Grocers Federation will update on the
experience of Scottish retailers since the implementation of the Licensing Act in
September 2009 and developments relating to price and promotions legislation.
10:25 Sarah Smith, Director of Delivery and Performance, Local Better Regulation Office to
answer any questions on participating in the Primary Authorities Scheme

11:20 David Poley Chief Executive of The Portman Group will update the Forum on the latest
decisions of the Panel in respect of the promotion and packaging of alcoholic drinks.
11:40 Richard Lamming, Director of Communications for the British Soft Drinks Association
will present on the work of BSDA on responsible sale and marketing of ‘Energy’ Drinks
12:10 Andrew Chevis from Citizencard will update on the work of the largest national provider of
proof of age cards and on the work of the No ID No Sale campaign

13:00 Hannah Tait from the Department of Health will discuss the latest developments in the
tobacco display ban regulations
13:20 Michael O’Loughlin from Applegreen will be discussing the affect of the tobacco display
ban in Ireland and how it will affect UK retailers.
13:40 Jenny Brown will update the forum on ACS’ response to the Government consultation on
regulations on compliance with the ban on tobacco displays
