SGF Joins Campaign against Tobacco Display Ban

Stage 1 of the Tobacco and Primary Medical Service (Scotland) Bill, which seeks to ban the display of tobacco and introduce a register of tobacco retailers, must be completed in the Scottish Parliament by 25th September.
The Scottish Grocers Federation (SGF) is encouraging its members to make MSPs aware of the impact of a display ban on small retailers by writing to them at the start of the process of debating the Bill.
Scotland is looking to introduce a tobacco display ban, the same as Westminster is looking to do in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. To date, over 1000 ACS members have written to their MPs in Westminster to highlight the problems that a display ban will bring. Both SGF and ACS are confident that MPs and MSPs in their respective Parliaments will listen to grass roots opinion.
Campaigning in Scotland is now at a critical phase and SGF are urging members to make their voices heard.
A pro forma letter is available for Scottish retailers by contacting Katie Mackie on 0131 343 3300 or k.mackie@scotgrocersfed.co.uk
ACS members are also encouraged to keep making their voices heard to MPs and a pro forma letter is available by clicking here.
The vote that will decide the issue in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is expected on 12th October.
