Government Extends Crime Fund for Small Retailer Groups
The Government’s Small Retailer Grants Fund has extended its deadline to partnership groups of small retailers to 6 November 2009 in 18 of the 50 original areas specified in the campaign. The extension comes after the 18 areas were undersubscribed by the value of their initial applications by more than £25,000.
The Small Retailer Grants Fund, launched in August of this year aims to reduce the risk of crime against smaller retailers in high priority areas. The potential £3000 grant for small retailers has been considered a success after the programme was oversubscribed when the September deadline expired. However, partnership grants worth up to £50,000 have been undersubscribed by value and as a result, the deadline has been extended.
The areas affected by the deadline extension are as follows: Barrow Borough District Council; Bolton Council; Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council; Wigan Council; Durham Council (Easington only); Darlington Borough Council; Northumberland Council (Wansbeck Only); Leicester City Council; City of Lincoln Council; Derby City Council; Stoke-on-Trent City Council; Hastings Borough Council; Portsmouth City Council; Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council; Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council; City and County of Swansea Council; Norwich City Council and London Borough of Haringey Council.
