ANR Strengthens Board

The Association of News Retailing (ANR), the news group of the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS), has expanded its board of directors with the appointment of Charlotte Morey of Musgrave Budgens Londis and Gavin Tennent of WRVS.

They join Managing Director John Lennon and fellow directors Mike Greene, John Barn and Chairman Russ Simper on the Board.

ANR has also announced that James Lowman takes up the position of Company Secretary as part of his responsibilities as Chief Executive of ACS. James takes the helm from David Rae, who is retiring from ACS and the ANR board.

Says ANR Managing Director John Lennon: “I am delighted to welcome Charlotte and Gavin to the ANR board. They bring considerable expertise to ANR, which will help further enhance our role in shaping the news landscape in the convenience sector.

“At the same time I would like to thank David Rae for all his tremendous hard work over the last five years, and to welcome ACS’ new Chief Executive James Lowman as Company Secretary.

“The news market is vital to our members’ growth and I am confident that as a board we can help drive the category forward and deal effectively with their immediate concerns, such as the OFT draft opinion and code on news and magazine supply.”
The ANR is at the heart of industry talks seeking a fairer deal for news retailers, who have seen their margin decline and their carriage charges increase over recent years. It also carries out best practice work to drive standards in news and magazine retailing.
