Industry Winners Lined up for Summit

01 May 2007

The winners of the Association of Convenience Stores’ (ACS) Achievement Award 2007 will present to a packed audience of top industry figures at Summit 07.

Bryony Ledger, a Category Analyst from GlaxoSmithKline is the winner in the supplier category and Nick Brown, Group Forecourts Manager for James Graven in the retailer category, were selected by an expert panel.

Bryony and Nick will present their winning concepts for the store of the future. Their presentations focus on what will suit the needs of changing consumer habits and therefore provide a long term competitive advantage.

The ACS Achievement Award is a search for the brightest young stars in the convenience sector and the two winners will present their winning entry to conference delegates at Summit 07.

After presenting at Summit the two UK winners will represent the UK in the Global Convenience Industry Achievement Award competition to be staged in Atlanta, Georgia this autumn. They follow in the footsteps of previous global award winners Susie Hawkins (Simon Smith Group) and Henry Moran (MBL) and will be strongly supported by ACS.

ACS Chief Executive James Lowman said: “The winners of the Achievement Award have created fantastic examples of the innovations that our sector can produce. Bryony and Nick’s ideas on the store of the future were unique and inspiring.

“Presenting at Summit will not only provide delegates with the insights of these two young talents in our industry, but provide ideal practice for when these two go up against other talented young people from across the globe.”

Bryony Ledger said: “I am delighted and honoured to have won this award and excited about presenting my store of the future to the ACS Summit 07. “

Nick Brown said: “I will be proud to represent the UK up against other national award winners in Atlanta, and am glad of the support that has been shown to me by the UK convenience industry starting with speaking at Summit 07.”
