ACS Backs Campaign for Smarter Drinking
ACS (the Association of Convenience Stores) has endorsed the ground breaking ‘Campaign for Smarter Drinking’ consumer marketing campaign.
The Campaign which is launched under the strap line ‘Why Let Good Times Go Bad?’ consists of in store, on pack and external advertising. The campaign targets the behaviour of young binge drinkers, encouraging moderation without patronising or lecturing.
The campaign which is delivered by voluntary funding contributions from over 50 companies involved in the production, distribution or sale of alcohol, is endorsed by Secretary of State for Health Andy Burnham. The total campaign is valued at £100 million over five years.
ACS Chief Executive James Lowman said: “We are delighted to endorse the Campaign for Smarter Drinking. We believe that this consumer marketing campaign developed through the shared expertise of professionals across the industry and Government will have a lasting impact on consumer behaviour.
“It is absolutely clear that to deliver long term change, industry and Government have to work together. This Campaign has already broken new ground in this respect and we hope that this will continue into the broader public health agenda.
“ACS has been closely involved in the development of the Campaign and will continue our support as it rolls out over coming months.”
