ACS Appoints Public Affairs Director
ACS the campaigning voice of over 33,000 local shops, has promoted Shane Brennan to the position of Public Affairs Director.
Shane joined ACS in October 2002 as Public Affairs Executive, later taking on the role of Public Affairs and Communications Manager. He has worked closely with ACS Chief Executive James Lowman, and has been responsible for leading ACS policy in a number of critical areas including alcohol legislation, the Competition Commission Inquiry into the grocery market, planning policy and Sunday Trading.
James Lowman, said: “Shane has been critical to ACS’s lobbying of government, and keeping the media and our members informed over the past six years. He has become a key member of our team and now, as Public Affairs Director he will take strategic responsibility for our entire public affairs and communications functions. I am delighted to announce his promotion, which is very well deserved.”
The Public Affairs Director role has been created as part of ACS’s board strategy to grow the organisation’s profile and influence in the government, parliament and media communities. Shane will also ensure that ACS continues to develop as a destination for information and insight for the sector as a whole.
To coincide with Shane’s new position, ACS has also promoted Sarah Johnson to Events Manager and Jenny Brown to Public Affairs Executive.
“Both Sarah and Jenny have earned their spurs with ACS, and will carry out their new roles with expertise and enthusiasm,” said James Lowman. “Congratulations to them both.”
