ANR Remains in JIG Membership
Following the announcement of the NFRN's decision to suspend their membership of JIG, the Association of News Retailing have clarified that they will continue their membership.
ANR Managing Director John Lennon said: “We are extremely concerned at the potentially damaging changes taking place in our industry. As the pace of change in the industry has quickened, it has become even clearer that JIG is not an effective forum for tackling these issues. This is why we have consistently supported retailer choice as the best way to regulate performance rather than the cumbersome and ineffective self-regulatory structures currently in place.
“We understand the NFRN’s decision, but while our membership of JIG is under constant review we are not planning to leave JIG at the present time. We share the NFRN’s focus on working with the OFT and DBIS to press for a better news industry including meaningful retailer choice.”
